On Being a Woman…

It’s not surprising for a woman to go underground.

She can’t live out in the open forever, on stage or in the lime light open to all eyes and every public opinion.

No, a must dig down into herself in certain seasons of life to discover what lives there in the silence and curate that for her soul’s delight.

A woman must go away at times to travel and to be alone. To stop her doingness in order to nurture her beingness. A woman must dream and search the sky for her own truth. She must feel and divine the fuse that fuels the flower’s bloom.

A woman must dwell in the long tones of her own voice.

A woman must stop and stop and stop again to survey her own landscape and map her way forward. She must walk to the secret cliff where bees drip their honeycomb from ancient limestone crags and wild pigs root under the massive tree canopy at midnight.

A woman must breathe and sigh and empty. Then pause to dream some more before moving to give to her visions with words, colors, shapes, music and sound.

She must scan the horizon of her own soul, following music that only she can hear in order to hold sacred the one clear pebble of truth she finds there.

Breathwork

Breathwork has been used by humans for at least 5,000 years. References are made in the “Yoga Sutras of Patanjali” with in 18 of the Sutras. One of which is Pada II. Sutra 51.

“The refinement of breath or prana is thus the physical counterpart of expansion of consciousness. The breath is the connecting link of life between the inner machinery – the mind, intellect, ego and senses – and the outer machinery – the physical body and its world. It is precisely the breath locked into narrow boundaries of stress, belief and judgment that maintains ignorance. Conversely, when the subtlest breath, the udana prana enters the susumna, enlightenment is absolutely natural.”

This is a current article from Science Daily:

“Scientist reveal how breathwork unlocks psychedelic bliss in the brain” 9/2/2025

High ventilation breathwork while listening to music was associated with reports of blissful states and reduced negative emotions, accompanied by increase blood flow to emotion-processing brain regions. Participants experienced unity and bliss, pointing to a natural therapeutic tool with powerful potential.

Samyamah

RoseThe Third Quarter of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali describes the second stage of Enlightenment; Exalted Consciousness. There are no techniques in the book to accomplish this. The Third Quarter is a treatise on the mechanics of this growth; it is not a how-to manual. I have found the Yoga Sutras to be a “road map” of the stages of human consciousness. Nothing will replace the power of direct embodied experience.

Samyamah is a process which is described by the Sages as “the Bestower of Union”. The qualities of Focus, Resonance, and Stabilized Enlightened Consciousness -together -carry human consciousness to Exalted Consciousness and Unified Consciousness.

The Technique of Samyamah is given by a Sage to her student at the point when the student arrives in Stabilized Ascendent Consciousness. The giving of Samyamah is an in -person event. It is passed on from one open heart to another – energetically and with resonance and focus. If the student has not stabilized Ascendent Consciousness, this technique is a waste of time and can actually have the opposite effect. It is the relationship of the Mastery Teacher and her student that discovers the timing together.

Samyamah is then applied to various objects for the purpose of stabilizing Exalted Consciousness and Unified Consciousness.

There is always more……..
